ESCA – Economia Social i Cooperativisme a l’Aula

STORY

The Social Economy and Cooperativism in the Classroom (ESCA) course, promoted by Alternativas Económicas, Clack Audiovisual, Junior Report, Valors and Pauta Media, aims to promote knowledge and application of cooperativism, social economy and ethical finance among students of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO), Baccalaureate and Vocational Training (FP).

ESCA was created to respond to a growing demand from educational centers for specific content that promotes values ​​such as sustainability, cooperation and ethics in the economic field. This course aims to help educational centers adapt to the challenges of the 21st century by emphasizing the development of transversal skills that train students better prepared to face current social, economic and environmental challenges.

The Social Economy is the set of economic and business activities that seek the general interest and well-being of people above economic profit.

The entities that are part of what we call the Social Economy are: labor societies, mutual societies, Special Centers for Social Initiative Work, Fishermen’s Brotherhoods, associations, foundations and cooperatives.

The principles of the Social Economy:

• Put people above capital.
• Make transparent, democratic and participatory management of its activity and its members.
• Promote solidarity within the company and with society, favoring the development of the communities where they are located
• Generate stable and quality jobs, promoting equality between men and women and favoring the reconciliation of personal, family and work life.
• Take into account environmental sustainability.
• Maintain independence with respect to public authorities.

Cooperatives are a form of business organization that operates under parameters of internal democracy. All members participate in decision-making and, therefore, everyone is aware of everything that happens within the company.

I was in charge of the motion graphics of the entire online course, with the aim of making complex concepts clearer through animation.
