What is Foodborne AMR?

FAO

Educational video production in animation for Food and Agriculture Organization, Rome 2025.

STORY

Microbes can be present in the food we eat, and some of them can make people sick. These are called pathogens. These pathogens can also contain the genetic material that enables them to resist antimicrobials. So, if we eat food containing AMR pathogens and get sick, the illness can be more difficult to treat. The transmission of AMR microbes to people through food is called foodborne AMR.

FAO is implementing the Action to support implementation of Codex AMR texts (ACT) project in six countries to help them tackle the threat of foodborne AMR.

The project and this video are funded by the Republic of Korea.

El Gato Prods. was in charge of developing the style and the animation of this video, from storyboarding to postproduction.
